Composer Richard Rodney Bennett began scoring British films when he was 20 years old, and was recognized as being one of the best composers in that industry. He primarily scored films in the '60s and '70s, during which he received three Oscar nominations for Best Original Score. He subsequently turned to scoring television shows, with a notable return to film in the '90s with Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994).
