A former opera singer and stage actor/director, William Worthington entered films as a leading man in 1913. Worthington's more notable screen roles included General George Washington in The Spy and Damon in Damon and Pythias (both 1914). From 1917 to 1925, he concentrated on directing, and during this period was also head of a short-lived production firm called Multicolor Films. Active until his death, William Worthington essayed scores of bit roles in the talkie era, usually playing judges or military officers.
