The son of actors Jason Robards and Lauren Bacall, actor Sam Robards made his feature debut in The Tempest (1982). He has gone on to work in television, starring on shows like Get a Life, Law & Order, Gossip Girl, and Treme, as well as feature films like Bounce, Life as a House, and The Rebound.

- Studied acting at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Connecticut after being expelled from Sarah Lawrence College for bad grades.
- Made his acting debut in the off-Broadway comedy Album.
- First film role was Molly Ringwald's would-be boyfriend in Tempest, director Paul Mazursky's 1982 updating of Shakespeare's The Tempest.
- Appeared with his father, Jason Robards, in the 1988 Michael J. Fox screen drama Bright Lights, Big City; and with his mother, Lauren Bacall, in the 1994 Robert Altman satire Ready to Wear.
