Missouri native David Cook began singing when a teacher forced him to perform in a Christmas pageant in second grade. He took to music and remained devoted to singing on into adulthood, so when season-seven American Idol auditions came through Omaha, he jumped at the chance. Cook wowed the judges and made it to Hollywood, where he survived the cut and ultimately emerged the victor. In 2006 Cook released the independent solo album Analog Heart.
