English actor Johnny Harris jump-started his career with two roles in projects that found him effectively fleshing out gritty and dirty, crime-themed material -- a small supporting part in Paul McGuigan's Gangster No. 1 (2000), and lead billing as a cutthroat pimp tailing a middle-aged hooker and a preteenager in Paul Andrew Williams' thriller London to Brighton.

  • Dropped out of school when he was 13 and became an apprentice locksmith.
  • Was a boxer when he was young and sparred with former professional boxer Azumah Nelson in 1989.
  • Moved to Paris with a girlfriend as a teenager, and discovered his love for film there; he later moved back to England to study acting.
  • Started his acting career on stage and performed in No Place For Heroes at the Union Theatre in 2001.
