Biography by AllMovie

Rotund and often sloppy-looking comic Sandy Baron (born Sanford Beresofsky) is perhaps best remembered for his wrap-around appearance as himself in Woody Allen's paean to borsch-belt comedy, Broadway Danny Rose (1982), and more recently, as Jack Klompus, Seinfeld Sr.'s nemesis on the hit television series Seinfeld. A veteran Catskill performer, Baron was a nightclub regular before making a national impact on the experimental television comedy series That Was the Week That Was. A regular panelist on Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin in the 1970s, Baron also enjoyed a long run in the one-man show Lenny at Hollywood's Aquarius Theater in 1972. Broadway Danny Rose was just one of 20 films Baron would grace, the majority of them of little consequence except for his always critically acclaimed appearance. The veteran comedian died of emphysema at a Van Nuys, CA, nursing home.
