An imposing stage veteran from New York, onscreen from 1911, Al Fremont played Emperor Franz Josef in the preparedness melodrama Kultur (1918). There were many other such roles for the tall, dark-haired character actor, who worked for almost every major studio in Hollywood. Fremont was the husband of actress Ella Weaver.
