Native Canadian actor Ricky Mabe revealed an onscreen flexibility and eclecticism that enabled him to switch between radically different projects with great ease, thus setting him apart from the pack. Mabe began as a child star in youth-oriented Canadian productions such as the 1996 Frankenstein and Me and the 1998 Little Men, but truly hit his stride with a recurring role as Gideon Lustig in the U.S. series Beautiful People, produced by ABC Family but shot in Canada. Perhaps wary of falling into a family friendly typecast, Mabe then did a 180 and signed on to play a theater actor-turned-porn star in writer/director Kevin Smith's lewd and raunchy farce Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008).
