Biography by AllMovie

Best remembered for the campily overblown but catchy hit-tune "Rock Me Amadeus" (1986), Falco (born Johann Holzel) was for a brief time one of Europe's most popular pop musicians. A former child prodigy schooled in classical music, Falco turned toward jazz and pop after graduating from the Vienna Conservatoire. His other hits include "Der Kommisar" and "Vienna Calling." He was not an actor per se, but he did appear in concert, performance, and music videos. Falco died at age 40 when he accidentally collided his sport utility vehicle with a bus while visiting Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
