Born Levita Axelrod in San Francisco, actress Billie Rhodes started out as a local café and theater entertainer at age 12. She made her film debut in the 1913 short Perils of the Sea using her birth name. Afterward she billed herself as Billie Rhodes. In 1915, she began working for Nestor Studios. There she appeared in a number of Al Christie-directed comedies and was known as "the Nestor Girl." In 1918, she married William Parsons, the head of National Film Corp. and began appearing in his Capitol Comedies series. She left films in the mid-'20s to resume her nightclub career.
