Sort of a Marjorie Main of the silent era, dowdy-looking comedienne Louise Lester became a star playing Calamity Anne in a series of comic Westerns produced in Santa Barbara, CA, by the American Company (1912-1913). She left the screen to marry actor Jack Richardson but returned for supporting roles in the 1920s. Divorced from Richardson, Lester later married actor/director Frank Beal.
