John Griffith Wray (not to be confused with the actor John Wray of the 20s and 30s, or the choreographer John Wray of the 40s), awas one of the most distinguished directors of Hollywood's silent era. Working almost exclusively for producer Thomas Ince, Wray directed such potent dramas as the anti-narcotics tract Human Wreckage (1922), and the first filmization of Eugene O'Neill's Anna Christie (1923).
