Hungarian director Gyorgy Révész is well regarded for his 1960s musicals. Born in Budapest, he trained at Gerler's Film Art School from 1945 through its closing in 1948. He next attended the Budapest Academy of Theatre and Film Art, graduating in 1950. Between 1952 and 1954, Révész lectured there. Before becoming a full-fledged filmmaker, he was an assistant director and a script editor. In the late '70s, Révész stopped directing feature films and turned to television work.
