Biography by AllMovie

American director of photography Victor Milner began his career in the film industry as a lab assistant at age 15. He then worked as a projectionist and a newsreel cameraman until 1914 when he became a full-fledged cinematographer. During his career, Milner filmed dozens of silent and early sound films; though he worked with many major studios, his home base was Paramount where he worked on a few of Lubitsch's early sound films. Later he began working for C.B. De Mille productions where Milner was largely responsible for the opulent look of the director's epics. In 1934, he won an Oscar for his work on Cleopatra.
