Though born in Chile, she lived in Europe between 1928 and 1942. In 1943 she co-founded the Experimental Theater of the University of Chile before making her acting debut in Romance de medio siglo. She acted in several more films before working as an assistant director for Carlos Hugo Christensen and Pierre Chenal. She married Jorge di Lauro, an Argentine sound technician, in 1946. In 1958, they began making documentaries. To them documentary was more than a way of presenting social issues -- it was also an art form. They made their final film in 1972; it was never released.
