Best remembered for playing the housekeeper in the Charlie Chan mystery The Black Camel (1931), veteran British character actress Louise Macintosh had acted on Broadway opposite Holbrook Blinn in The Challenge (1919) and Helen Makaye in Crooked Gamblers (1920). The were a few minor supporting roles in silent films but Macintosh was busier onscreen after the advent of sound, appearing in a dozen or so brief but showy roles such as the female senator in The Phantom President (1932) and as Helen Vinson's posh mother in the gangster comedy The Little Giant (1933).
