Biography by AllMovie

A vaudeville dancer turned stock company ingenue, vivacious Zena Keefe toured with a company of The Fatal Wedding prior to making her screen debut for the Brooklyn-based Vitagraph company in 1911. A popular, if limited, screen personality, Keefe appeared in literally hundreds of one-reel comedies, dramas, and even Westerns prior to the emergence of feature films. In 1916, Keefe replaced Helen Green as the heroine in the third episode of Perils of Our Girl Reporters (1916), a series of two-reel adventures filmed in upstate New York. The success of the series led to her being cast as Musette in a screen version of La Boheme (1916). She was also the girl wronged in the cautious Enlighten Your Daughter (1917) and played a dual role in Shame (1917). But like so many of her contemporaries, Keefe found the 1920s less hospitable and she was playing bit parts by 1924.
