A founding member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, producer Joseph Judson Cohn's lifelong affiliation with the film industry began in 1915 after he was hired to serve as a service manager for the Fox Film Company. Three years later, Cohn was named the business manager for the California division of Samuel Goldwyn's production company. When Goldwyn merged with Metro in 1924, Cohn was named production manager. Cohn became an executive producer for MGM in the late '30s and was involved with films like The Thirteenth Chair (1937). In 1948, he became the vice president of MGM. Cohn passed away on January 12, 1996, at the age of 100.
