Very busy in films of the 1920s, handsome, mustachioed John Roche specialized in playing the "other man," the slick sweet talker who never gets the girl. Onscreen from 1922, the tall, Rochester-educated actor had spent ten years touring with various stock companies. He returned to the legitimate stage in the early '30s but was back in Hollywood playing bit roles by 1942.
