Biography by AllMovie

American actor John Clark Gable was a celebrity while still in the womb. He was the much-awaited son of movie legend Clark Gable and Gable's fifth wife, Kay Spreckels. Gable spent most of the grueling shooting schedule of The Misfits (1960) in eager, almost boyish anticipation of the birth of his first child. But when John Clark Gable came into the world in March of 1961, his father had been dead for four months, the victim of heart failure. Growing up in the shadow of his father, John may have entertained thoughts of a non-showbiz career, but the call of the blood won out. A gangling, ruggedly handsome young man described by some observers as a Kevin Costner look-alike, John Clark Gable did some minor TV work, then appeared in his first film, Bad Jim, in 1990. Appearing in a supporting role as a western bandit, the 29-year-old John Clark Gable showed promise, but little has been seen of him since.
