French cinematographer Jean Rabier frequently worked with such New Wave directors as Chabrol, Varda, and Demy during the 1960s. A native of Paris, he worked as an industrial artist before joining the film industry as a camera operator in 1948. He continued working in that capacity and as a lighting director with other cinematographers through the '50s before becoming a full-fledged director of photography himself.
