A documentary filmmaker in the late '40s, Hill began helming mysteries in the early '50s, most notably A Study in Terror (1966). He made his mark in the '60s and '70s with films featuring animals: Born Free (1966), Black Beauty (1971), and Christian the Lion (1976). After the late '70s, Hill became a television director.
