Russian musician Ilia Khmara appeared in a few Hollywood films during the '30s and '40s where he typically played authentic Russian folk musicians. He came to the U.S. in the 1920s. Soon after arriving in Chicago, Khmara set up a nightclub where he worked until he moved to Hollywood.
