American writer/producer Henry Blankfort was most active in the years 1942 to 1950. Blankfort's best-remembered credit was the 1942 "omnibus" film Tales of Manhattan. Overall, he seemed less interested in pursuing his Hollywood career and more concerned with politics; in fact, he was one of Tinseltown's most radical communists. It is hardly surprising, then, that Blankfort found himself virtually jobless during the Hollywood Blacklist years. Henry Blankfort ignominiously ended his movie career at Monogram, where he worked on the low-budget Joe Palooka pictures.
