Biography by AllMovie

Cinematographer and directing Glenn Kershner led an interesting life before joining the film industry. When he was 17, he left his native Ohio and went West to play his guitar and harmonica in saloons. In another of his life sagas, he was aboard a ship bound for the South Pacific when it was commandeered by pirates. Later he enrolled in music school and went on to become a photographer, frequently working with auto tycoon Henry Ford. He eventually moved to Hollywood to photograph such silent films as Mutiny on the Bounty. Following the death of his wife in 1952, Kershner left films to play with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. Later in his life, he also played for the Detroit Symphony.
