British screenwriter Geoffrey Orme preferred making audiences laugh to making them cry. Orme's first film credit was the well-named 1936 musicomedy Sunshine Ahead. During the 1940s, he penned four entries in the long-running Old Mother Riley series. Geoffrey Orme remained active until 1954, still specializing in such lighthearted fare as Orders Are Orders.
