Biography by AllMovie

A former burlesque comic and a native Californian, tough-looking supporting actor/stunt man Fred DeSilva usually played exotic types and was one of the heathen Arabs in the first screen version of The Sea Hawk (1924). DeSilva, who sometimes billed himself under his real name, Frederick Lancaster, died at California's Norwalk State Hospital, a victim, it was reported, of "a nervous breakdown."
