Ethel Grandin was a leading actress of the silent screen who got her start working with the Independent Motion Picture Company of America (IMP) where she was known as the Imp girl from IMP. Her most famous film was Carl Laemmle's Traffic in Souls (1913). In 1914, she and Roy Smallwood, her husband and cinematographer, left IMP and founded their own production company.
