The first wife of silent screen action star William Russell, brunette Charlotte Burton co-starred in 15 of his popular vehicles, including the serial The Diamond From the Sky (1915) and its plainly titled successor The Sequel to the Diamond From the Sky (1916). A former stage ingenue, Burton spent her co-starring years with the American "Flying-A" Company of Santa Barbara, CA, and her fortunes seem to have declined along with those of her employer. She was divorced from Russell in 1921, a year after her final screen appearance in Polly of the Storm Country. Burton's death in 1942 was attributed to a heart attack.
