A distinguished-looking early star for the pioneering Selig Polyscope Company, gray-haired Charles Clary later played La Tremouille opposite Geraldine Farrar's Joan the Woman (1916); was Louis XV opposite Theda Bara's Madame Du Barry (1917); and made a fine King Arthur in Will Rogers' A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1921). He spent the remainder of his career in Westerns, usually portraying the heroine's father, lawmen, or military officers.
