A leading man with the pioneer Edison company, distinguished-looking Carlton King (sometimes billed Carlton S. King) came to films with a varied background on the legitimate stage. He spent two years as an actor/director with Edison in the mid-1910s and also worked for Vitagraph and Broadway Star. A character actor in the 1920s, King's final film was the 1932 Tom Keene western Partners. He died during filming, and his voice was dubbed by a different actor.
