Biography by AllMovie

Brigit and Willhelm Hein, her husband, are leading figures in the German radical avant-garde movement. Their first collaborative efforts were created in the late '60s. They not only made films, they also staged multimedia performances. Their earliest films such as Rohfilm, and Reproductions 3, were known for their agressiveness. In the mid '70s, the Hein's changed their focus after the audience began to lose interest in their alienating subject matter. Instead they started focusing upon their own marital travails, which they presented in explicit detail. Brigit Hein is also recognized for her independent work as an art historian and avant-garde film critic.
