Factsheet

  • Second-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons, 33rd overall, in the 1991 NFL draft; traded to Green Bay the following year.
  • Played 16 seasons in Green Bay and led the Packers to 11 post-season appearances, seven division titles and two Super Bowls; won Super Bowl XXXI over the New England Patriots 35-21.
  • Won three consecutive NFL MVP awards (1995, '96, '97), the first player in the league's history to do so.
  • Arguably his greatest game was a Monday night contest against the Oakland Raiders on Dec. 22, 2003, the day after his father died; led Green Bay to a 41-7 victory; completed four TD passes in the first half and 399 total passing yards for the game.
  • Named 2007 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year.
  • Traded to the New York Jets in 2008 after he tearfully announced his retirement earlier that year, and engaged in a much-publicized tiff with the Packers prior to his trade to the Jets.
  • Joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2009, after more talk of retirement. That season, one of Favre's finest, included a victory over his old team, the Packers, that made him the first quarterback to defeat all 32 NFL teams.
  • Had ankle surgery in May, 2010.
