Over his long career in the British film industry, Bill Shapter has been a cameraman, an editor, and a producer. He started out in 1965, as a cameraman. Three years later, he moved to the BBC's Ealing Studios to become an editor, a position he would hold for the next ten years. After leaving, Shapter freelanced as an editor of films and television shows until the late '80s, when he returned to the BBC as a producer.
