French supporting actor Bernard Fresson was discovered on-stage by noted director Alain Resnais, who cast Fresson in Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959). Prior to becoming an actor, Fresson had studied law in Paris. Since his debut, Fresson appeared steadily in numerous French films, particularly those of Resnais.
