Biography by AllMovie

Broadway ingénue Barbara Robbins had co-starred in the original 1932 production of J.B. Priestley's Dangerous Corner (with Stanley Ridges and Jean Dixon) when awarded a contract with RKO. Unfortunately, Hat, Coat and Glove (1934), a courtroom drama with Ricardo Cortez, did not sell many tickets and she returned to the legitimate stage where she played with Ethel Barrymore in The Ghost of Yankee Doodle (1937) and, opposite a young Joyce Van Patten, in The Bees and the Flowers (1946). In 1952, she replaced Nancy Carroll as Alice Aldrich in The Aldrich Family television series and remained with the show until its cancellation the following year.
