Though Spanish director Antonio Mercero occasionally works in cinema, he is best known for his contributions to television; his documentaries and TV series include Cronicas de un Pueblo/Chronicles of a Village (1971), and the internationally popular children's program Verano Azul/Blue Summer (1979). Before entering the entertainment industry, Mercero graduated with a law degree from the Universidad de Valladolid in 1958. In 1962, Mercero received a degree in film direction from the Escuela Oficial de Cinematografía and began making newsreels for the state. He also worked for Spain's national television network, TVE. Mercer's feature-film efforts include Se Necesita Chico/Boy Wanted (1963), Las Delicias de los Verdes Años (1976), and the acclaimed Don Juan, Mi Querido Fantasma/Don Juan, My Dear Ghost (1990).
