Biography by AllMovie

Spanish director Antonio Isasi-Isamendi is best known for the big-budget action films he made during the 1960s, when he typically billed himself as Antonio Isasi. Born and raised in Madrid, Isasi-Isamendi moved to Barcelona as a young man and found work as a best boy with Emisora Films. During his tenure there, he would be promoted to editor. He left Emisora in the mid-'50s to establish his own production company, Isasi P.C. Isasi-Isamendi began making action films in 1963; these movies, like Scaramouche/The Adventures of Scaramouche (1963) and Estambul 65/That Man in Istanbul (1965), were designed for European (rather than strictly Spanish) release. After making El Perro/The Dog (1977), Isasi-Isamendi quit directing to pursue a career as a producer and film distributor; he would not return to the director's chair until 1987 when he made El Aire de un Crimen/The Hint of a Crime.
