A well-known New York stage actress, Anna Lehr's screen credits are often confused with those of her daughter, a prominent child-actress in the early '10s usually billed as Baby Anna Lehr. The older Anna Lehr (née Neil) played Mrs. Belknap-Jackson in the first, silent, screen version of the ever popular Ruggles of Red Gap (1923) and was the Virgin Mary in a 1928 screen pageant entitled Jesus of Nazareth. Her death in 1951 was attributed to a heart attack. Baby Anna Lehr later became a popular and busy character actress under the name Ann Dvorak.
