British writer Allan MacKinnon began working in films in 1939. MacKinnon's range extended from the "Thin Man" clone This Man is News to the murder-on-the-rails meller Sleeping Car to Trieste (1948). He also contributed to the general goodwill of such comedies as Cheer Boys Cheer (1939) and Vote for Huggett. Allan MacKinnon retired in 1956.
