Though a familiar face to British TV fans, Alison Doody was unknown to American audiences until her portrayal of Jenny Flex in A View to a Kill (1985). In 1989, she played the avaricious, pro-Nazi Elsa, the most complex and fascinating of the three Indiana Jones heroines in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Alison Doody was prominently featured in such films as Temptation (1994) and Major League 2 (1994).

  • Intended to become an artist, but at age 17 was approached by a photographer in a coffee shop. He asked if she'd like to model for him and, after talking it over with her mother, she said yes.
  • Inadvertently rented an apartment in London's red-light district when she moved to London (from Dublin) at age 19. 
  • Got the first part that she auditioned for: Jenny Flex in the 1985 James Bond flick A View for a Kill.
  • Passed on the role of Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct because of the film's nudity and sexual content. Sharon Stone wound up with the part instead.
  • Lied about being afraid of rats when auditioning for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It wasn't until later that she understood why the question was asked: Her first major scene was shot in a cave filled with 3000 of the rodents.
