Best remembered in Latin America for his long-term movie partnership with fellow comedian Jorge "el Gordo" Porcel, Alberto Olmedo was also beloved for creating and portraying Captain Pilusio on Argentine television for 22 years. Prior to the show, Olmedo had been an acrobat, and following his show's demise in 1961, he started performing comedy on-stage and in feature films. Billing themselves as Alberto and Jorge, the slender Olmedo and the pudgy Porcel appeared in 12 popular films together, including Maridos en Vaccaciones (Husbands on Vacation) (1975).
