In the third episode of the four-part story "Kinda," the titular telepathic race tries to make contact with several visitors to the planet Deva Loka, including the Doctor (Peter Davison) and his companions. Alas, the Kindas' thoughts are poisoned by a malignant influence known as the Mara, which drives two earth astronauts to madness before going to work on the Doctor's friend Tegan (Janet Fielding).
