Synopsis by Hal Erickson

When a husband and wife are separated, the husband takes charge of one of their sons, while the wife retains custody of the other. The two boys grow up on opposite sides of the law: One becomes a priest, and the other a "gentleman burglar." Upon breaking into a house late one night, the burglar catches sight of the owner's pretty daughter. Instantly falling in love, he promises to reform and wins the girl's hand in marriage, whereupon the ceremony is performed by (who else?) his clergyman brother. The Burglar and the Lady was designed as a movie vehicle for popular prizefighter James J. Corbett, here cast as the repentant thief.
