Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This Vitagraph melodrama went a long way to make Anita Stewart a star. Agnes Belgradin (Stewart) is in love with a young doctor, Loring Brent (E.K. Lincoln). When Agnes' father (Charles Kent) dies, her mother (Julia Swayne Gordon) takes her on a trip abroad. She insists that the young couple separate before they set sail, and promises that if they still love each other after a year they can reunite. But Mrs. Belgradin intercepts all the letters Agnes and Brent write one another, and convinces her daughter to marry a wealthy Australian millionaire (Harry T. Morey). The newly wedded couple set out on his yacht, which wrecks. Agnes is saved, but her husband is presumed dead. She returns to America, where Brent has become a brain surgeon of note, and she marries him. But years later, Agnes' supposedly dead husband reappears. His memory is gone, but Brent agrees to operate on him. Agnes has some tense moments because she realizes that if he regains his memory, she and her child will be stigmatized. Fortunately for Agnes, the man dies during the operation. Vitagraph re-released this feature two years later in a "New De Luxe Edition."
