Synopsis by Rob Ferrier

In this two-part series, historian Martin Gilbert turns his expertise to an examination of the life and times of one of the world's most fascinating cities, Jerusalem. The first episode, Jerusalem: From Dream to Destruction covers the birth, life, and death of the city, from King David through the city's destruction by Roman legions in 70 A.D. The second episode, Jerusalem: Pilgrims and Conquerors covers the more modern history of the city from the Crusades to the entry of Kaiser Wilhelm in 1898. Both episodes were originally produced for the History Channel.
