KISS: Unauthorized (2000)

Synopsis by Mark Deming
In the year 2000, the theatrical hard rock band Kiss announced that, after an international "farewell" tour, they would be hanging up their platform boots and bat-lizard costumes and call it quits. This self-described "video fanzine" pays tribute to the band's 27-year career through a combination of still photographs, backstage footage, interviews, and news coverage of the group's many honors. Included are several scenes of candid backstage material, Kiss meeting their fans during a signing session at a record store, the group being awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the group's television appearance announcing their farewell tour and impending breakup. For copyright reasons Kiss UnAuthorized does not include any of the group's music.
