Synopsis
"Young, Muslim and French" follows young French Muslims as they make their way in their secular nation, where a law banning headscarves in public schools takes effect in September 2004. This is stoking already smoldering tension fed by economic inequality, fear of extremism and a sense among Muslims that, as one young man puts it, "We're not one of their own." Following the film: an interview with Fawaz Gerges, a professor at Sarah Lawrence College and the author of "American and Political Islam: Clash of Cultures or Clash of Interests."
