Jeong Yun-su makes his directorial debut with his 2002 futuristic sci-fi thriller Yeseuteodei (Yesterday), the tale of a psychologically damaged special investigator on the trail of an elusive and extremely dangerous serial killer. In a united Korea in the year 2020, a string of grisly abductions and murders involving former governmental employees has been eluding investigation until Yun Seok (Kim Seung-woo) is assigned to the case. Still reeling from the disappearance and death of his own son only one year earlier, Seok throws his investigation into high gear when a prominent police official disappears. Seok's team of experts is soon joined by the missing official's daughter -- also a highly respected criminal profiler -- named Heui-su (Kim Yun-jin). As the team begins to make some headway into the case, they also learn of a top secret military operation that may have something to do with the seemingly super-human criminal they are tracking down.
