Synopsis by Nathan Southern

The documentary series WWII: Behind Closed Doors travels behind the façade of surface-level World War II history, to examine what actually transpired in the government offices and at the various summits of the men running the conflict. As written, produced and directed by Laurence Rees, the program tells the inside stories of the meetings at Potsdam, Tehran and Yalta, drawing from such elements as interviews, archival footage and dramatic reconstructions; it also features firsthand recollections from such participants as members of the Soviet secret police, veterans of the Communist Red Army, and Allied seamen posted on Arctic convoys.
